Have you ever bought yourself a treat?
You know, something that you were looking forward to, that maybe you haven’t eaten in a while. Perhaps it’s something that you just stumbled upon, not even something you planned on buying. When you saw it, however, it brought back memories of your childhood, or a special family member who used to make them for you. Oh, what a great find! So exciting!
You either tore open the package right away, unable to resist the temptation, or you brought it home, wanting to savor every bite. Readying yourself for the experience, you grab a beverage, sit in a comfy chair, eager to indulge in the delight of a favorite indulgence from your past.
One bite in and “Bleh!” It tastes nothing like you remember! Either your memory is playing tricks on you or the item you bought doesn’t live up to the expectations you had. It’s probably the latter. Of course, your tastes could have changed and you could have outgrown what you enjoyed as a child. More than likely, the promise of homemade goodness could not come from anywhere besides that beloved relative’s kitchen.
Well, not anymore, my friend.
When you take your first bite of a biscotti or pizzelle from Baker’s Lane Biscotti, it may just transport you back in time. I have seen it happen more than once. Right in front of me. A gentleman who was overcome with memories of his grandmother upon sampling a bite of pizzelle. A woman who could never figure out what the flavor was of the treats her grandmother used to give her until she tried an anise biscotti. Both she and her sister knew right away that they had found it. Why? Because I am just like that relative of yours. I bake my biscotti and pizzelle in small batches, for the taste you can find nowhere else. I know, because I looked! I bought and sampled from various sources—supermarkets, home bakers, Italian pastry shops and delis—none of them could compare. That’s what inspired this business. So, from the kitchens of my grandmother, mother and aunts, I offer you our homemade goodness.
